Hello!

I’m glad you are here, and welcome to my corner filled with observations of the world around us that I hope you will find to be of interest.

About me

I’m Parakram, which means “valour” in Hindi; a name that my immigrant parents hope defines me within our multicultural nation. I am based out of Connecticut: one of the oldest states in the Union with an incredibly rich history. My love for learning spans a broad spectrum; however, my principal passion is for politics, elections, and the law.

Apart from this blog, my writing has been featured in Sabato’s Crystal Ball, a political analysis newsletter run by the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics.

Further information, including my email, socials, and other projects can be found at https://linktr.ee/parakramkarnik.

My interest in doing this

While I am quite the inquisitive person with passions in many fields, this Substack will primarily be focused on current affairs around the world. My mother has inspired me to always learn more and fueled my curiosity. Traveling with her has helped me broaden my horizons and gain an international perspective. Meanwhile, my father has inculcated the value of listening to and respecting all sides of an argument, especially when one vociferously disagrees with a perspective. All in all, my love for history helps me contextualize the present, and gives me a greater understanding of our times.

I hope you do have the chance to wander around my Substack, preferably without the constraint of of the clock. I consider writing to be my principal form of expression, and my pieces are my artwork. One of my favorite experiences is walking through an art gallery and reflecting on the works that line the labyrinth of hallways without a sense of urgency of reaching any particular destination. I hope Karnik’s Corner can bring that experience to you.
